Meet Jim Genrich

January 12, 2017

This week, we at the Green Bay News Network are taking the opportunity to introduce one of our members whom many of you may already know, Jim Genrich.

Jim has worked in the human services field, including mental health and medical health care, for 23 years.  We asked Jim what he most likes about his work as administrator of McCormick Assisted Living:

"I most like knowing that I help to provide  a safe and caring environment for our seniors in a setting that is very personal and homelike."

Jim points out that McCormick Assisted Living is not simply another CBRF (Community-based residential facility):

"Our work here is really mission-driven, as we represent the mission to seniors for our Green Bay Catholic Diocese. We are open and encouraging to all faiths, and strive to offer our services as affordably as possible."

While Jim is definitely a full-time presence at McCormick Assisted Living, he is also active as a public ambassador for the facility at various meetings, conferences, and workshops sponsored by the diocese and other area agencies and organizations.  Though one would think this would keep Jim busy enough, he still finds time to dedicate to other areas of community and civic service:

"I currently serve as a Trustee on the Allouez Village Board, as well as the Allouez Public Works and Historic Preservation Committees, and formerly served on the Allouez Plan Commission. I also serve as President of the Allouez-Greater Green Bay Kiwanis, an organization that is committed to serving the needs of our community - primarily children. Additionally, I am Corporate Board President for Heritage Hill State Historical Park."

Jim and his wife, Karen, are blessed to be parents of three adult children, and are enjoying their five grandchildren, all of whom live here in our local community.

McCormick Assisted Living is located at 212 Iroquois Avenue, in Allouez. You can call and speak with Jim or any of his staff at 920-437-0883, and you can visit McCormick Assisted Living on the web, by clicking here. McCormick ~ Yesterday and Today

August 25, 2015

McCormick Assisted Living, formerly McCormick Memorial Home, has been a part of the local community for more than 90 years.

In 1921, Sarah and Amelia McCormick donated property and funds to begin a home for individuals who encounter changing needs as they grow older.

Named in honor of their brother Michael, the founder of Northern Paper Mills, McCormick Assisted Living has, from that time, provided a warm, personal, and home-like atmosphere for its residents.

Owned and operated by the Catholic Diocese of Green Bay, McCormick Assisted Living has grown with the community. The farms and open fields of Allouez have grown into a beautiful, tree-lined neighborhood.  Through the decades, McCormick has continued to offer a comfortable, stable living environment.

Five major construction projects highlight a commitment to growth and modern convenience.

"Hearing Loop" Fundraising Campaign Launched

August 13, 2015

McCormick Assisted Living, a state licensed community based residential facility, owned by the Catholic Diocese of Green Bay, is launching a Fund Raising Campaign to raise $5,000 to purchase and install a "Hearing Loop" in their Chapel.

"Churches should invest in things such as the Hearing Loop, to enhance the Mass experience, so each individual can take the message with them each time they leave." - Fr. Paul Vanden Hogen, Senior Priest, and resident of Grellinger Hall at McCormick Assisted Living.

A "Hearing Loop" is a special type of sound system for use by people who have hearing aids. The loop provides a magnetic, wireless signal that is picked up by the hearing aid, when it is set to "T" (Telecoil) setting.  There are also handheld devices available for those who do not wear hearing aids, but require some additional amplification in order to hear well in crowded settings.

If you would like to help provide the "Hearing Loop" at McCormick Assisted Living - and Grellinger Hall - Your check, made payable to McCormick Assisted Living, may be brought or mailed to:

McCormick Assisted Living - "Who goes There?"

April 2, 2015

If you've ever watched a Movie in which there was a Military or Police Checkpoint, you've likely heard the words “Who goes there?”

Sometimes, even when we think we know the basics about a business or facility in our community, we may not really know the “who” and the “what” that are at the heart of their service.

McCormick Assisted Living, under the leadership of administrator Jim Genrich – who also serves as an Allouez Village Trustee – may look like “just another nursing home.” Those who have lived and worked in the Green Bay – Allouez – De Pere area know that McCormick is so much more. In many ways, McCormick Assisted Living is the “Gold Standard” for Senior Care.

McCormick Assisted Living residents come from all walks of life and represent many faiths. It is our tradition to respect and promote their independence and provide compassionate care when they need it.

Jim Genrich and his Caring, Professional staff understand the decision for assisted living is not easy. When you choose McCormick, you become part of their community, and a neighbor. You are able to make yourself at home among friends.

Who are your neighbors at McCormick?

- Individuals or couples

- Over 60 years of age

- Able to walk unassisted or with the help of a cane or walker

- Desire companionship and security in a home-like atmosphere
