Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Wisconsin Goes Virtual with Schools

Posted on 7-02-2020

Over the past three months, BBBSNEW matches made the transition from in-person meetings to a whole new way of communicating. While Wisconsin’s Safer at Home order was in effect and schools were closed, Bigs were encouraged to find a new way of experiencing their match with their Littles. Not surprisingly, Bigs rose to the occasion and continued to be a positive, consistent mentors to their Littles.

While under BBBSNEW supervision, many matches were able to connect one last time for the 2019-2020 school year:

Big Sister, Anna, met with her Little Sister, Liz, before she graduated from the Bay Port High School Program. They were able to reminisce about their 2 years together, play some games, and practicing their artistic skills.

At the same time, Big Sister, Bridget, was sad to be moving away and not having closure with her Little Sister, Addy.  BBBSNEW staff were able to work with the match to make sure that they had an opportunity to say their goodbyes before Bridget moved. They laughed and joked together, sharing what they have been up to and enjoying their time.

Anna and Bridget, along with many other Bigs, went above and beyond their role to promote safe, healthy relationships with their Littles and to provide a positive, lasting impact through BBBSNEW. Site-based matches are looking forward to the fall and getting to see their Littles once again!
