(21-FEB-2024 GREEN BAY, WI) – At around 10:00pm Tuesday evening (20 Feb), Green Bay Police and Firefighters were summoned to the intersection of Elizabeth and Harold Streets on the city’s northeast side in response to a house fire.  Crews arrived on the scene at 10:20pm and within minutes had the area blocked off and were engaged in fighting the fire which apparently began in the rear section of the house.

Passersby who became aware of the situation had called 911 and alerted those living next to and near the burning house, so that they were able to evacuate to safe distances.

According to conversations with police and fire personnel it appears that no one was at home in the residence at the time.  There was a concern for two dogs who had been living at the address, and fortunately it seems that the dogs were not present in the house at the time of the fire.

The family of 4 is presently being housed in safe, temporary accommodations

The cause of the fire is not yet known and is under investigation.
