City of Green Bay & Wello Chosen as Finalists for Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Culture of Health Prize
The City of Green Bay has been chosen as a finalist community for the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) Culture of Health Prize following its joint application with Wello. Green Bay is one of nine finalists across the country moving one step closer to the national prize which honors communities working at the forefront of advancing health, opportunity, and equity for all.
“Being named a RWJF Culture of Health Prize finalist community is like advancing to the championship game in the health and well-being world,” said Natalie Bomstad, Executive Director of Wello. “The process has been an opportunity to shine a light on the impactful and innovative work that is happening right here in our community to improve the lives of all residents. We credit our advancement as a finalist to the commitment and steadfast leadership in Green Bay to center equity in health and well-being efforts. This is a big deal and something, as residents, we should be really proud of.”

RWJF is the nation’s largest philanthropy dedicated solely to health. Its goal is to help raise the health of everyone in the United States to the level that a great nation deserves, by placing well-being at the center of every aspect of life. To get to this stage in the process, Wello had to showcase the breadth of work and collaboration happening across sectors to expand health opportunities for all residents in Green Bay.
“RWJF Culture of Health Prize communities offer important examples of places where partners are coming together to cultivate a shared commitment to equity so all residents can thrive,” said Richard Besser, MD, RWJF president and CEO. “We look forward to connecting and speaking with residents and community leaders in each finalist community to learn more about how they are achieving meaningful and lasting change.”
This spring there will be community reflection sessions as part of the final phase of the prize selection process. Winners will be announced this fall. If selected as a prize winner, Wello will be awarded $25,000 and a national platform to share Green Bay’s well-being story and lessons learned with the country.
