Port of Green Bay: September Tonnage Totals
During the month of September, tonnage totals at the Port of Green Bay gained some ground. This year’s September total was 253,953 tons, an increase of nearly 28% over the September 2023 total of 198,918. The 2024 year-to-date total is now 1,264,757, only 3% lower than last year’s total of 1,302,359 for the same time period.
“While we do expect to see fluctuations in commodities from year to year, we’re very pleased to have seen such strong movement this September,” explained Dean Haen, Port of Green Bay Director. “We remain excited to see what the conclusion of our season has in store.”
The leading cargo during September was limestone at 97,782 tons. Other cargo included coal (50,316 tons), cement (40,568 tons), petroleum products (36,305 tons), salt (20,671 tons), liquid asphalt (6,311 tons) and wood pulp (2,000 tons).
