September Suicide Prevention Awareness Month ~ Suicide is The Most Preventable Form of Death
September is National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, and National Suicide Prevention Week is September 8th – 14th, 2019. During this month and week, individuals and organizations alike will be drawing attention to the problem of suicide, and advocating the prevention of this most preventable tragedy.
All around the nation, suicide prevention organizations will be conducting prevention and awareness events.
In 2017, 42 of our community members died by suicide. Suicide doesn’t discriminate. It’s the 10th-leading cause of all deaths in the U.S. and the 2nd leading cause of death among ages 15-24 in Wisconsin. Middle-aged men are the most at risk. And yet, it is the most preventable kind of death.
