Open Auditions for “The Music Man” at St. Norbert on March 25th

St. Norbert College Music Theatre will present two productions in the summer of 2023:  “The Music Man,” June 15th-17th, and “Brigadoon,” August 10th-13th, will be both performed in the Walter Theatre at the Abbott Pennings Hall of Fine Arts, 315 Third Street, in De Pere. SNC Music Theatre is a community-focused program that engages, educates, and entertains the people of northeast Wisconsin through performance. It supports the mission of the college and enhances the educational, economic and cultural vitality of the region.

To honor the memory of its founder, Dudley Birder, Music Theatre – Summer Stage proudly presents Meredith Wilson’s “The Music Man – Concert Version.” It’s all the music you know and love, and the charming story, from a full cast of characters joined onstage in concert by a live band and 60+ choir members from the Dudley Birder Chorale. This celebration of one of the most beloved American musicals pays tribute to St. Norbert’s own music man, Dudley, who loved this show and conducted it many times over his 50+ years with Music Theatre. “The Music Man – Concert Version” follows fast-talking traveling salesman, Harold Hill, as he schemes and cons the people of River City, Iowa, into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys’ band that he vows to organize, despite the fact that he doesn’t know a trombone from a treble clef. His plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian, the librarian, who transforms him into a respectable citizen.

“The Music Man- Concert Version” is written, with lyrics and music by Meredith Wilson; the story by Meredith Wilson and Franklin Lacey; and the concert adaptation by Evans Haile. It is presented through special arrangements with Music Theatre International (MTI). All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI.

“Brigadoon”, presented by Music Theatre – Next Stage, is a timeless, romantic classic inspired the classic MGM film. New Yorker Tommy Albright unexpectedly arrives at the mysterious Scottish Highland village of Brigadoon, which only appears for one day every 100 years. When Tommy meets and falls in love with Fiona, a beautiful villager in this magical hamlet, he must decide whether to return to his old life or stay in Brigadoon – forever.

“Brigadoon” was written by Alan Jay Lerner, with music by Frederick Loewe. Lerner and Loewe’s “Brigadoon” is presented through a special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). MTI also supplies all authorized performance materials.
