Wisconsin DNR to Host Public Meeting on Proposed Modifications for Disposal of Dredged Materials in Brown County
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) will hold a public meeting to discuss proposed modifications for disposal of dredged material at the Bay Port Dredged Material Disposal Facility (Bay Port) in Brown County.
The meeting will take place on Wednesday, August 30th at 4:00pm, in the Lake Michigan Conference Room at the DNR Green Bay Service Center, located at 2984 Shawano Avenue in Green Bay. The meeting will also be available virtually through Microsoft Teams and by phone (608-571-2209; conference ID: 530 769 663#).
Brown County Port and Resource Recovery Department (BCPRRD) has requested to modify an existing approval that allows them to dispose of dredged material at Bay Port.
Bay Port is located along the shoreline of the bay of Green Bay (Bay), northeast of I-43 and east of Military Ave., in the city of Green Bay. The facility is primarily used for the disposal of dredged material from the navigational channel of the Fox River and Bay generated by the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE). Brown County Port and Resource Recovery Department also accepts dredged material from areas outside of the navigational channel generated by other entities.
The purpose of the meeting is to solicit public comment on Brown County Port and Resource Recovery Department’s proposal and answer questions on the proposal. The meeting will begin with a brief presentation by DNR and Brown County Port and Resource Recovery Department representatives, followed by time for questions and comments from the public.
The DNR will consider all public comments in its decision on the proposal. A recording of the meeting will be available on the DNR’s website following the meeting.
The public is encouraged to submit comments by September 12th, 2023, to Jackie Marciulionis, DNR Hydrologist, at [email protected], or by phone, at 920-591-1547. Written comments may be mailed to: Wisconsin DNR, C/O Jackie Marciulionis, DNR Hydrogeologist, 2984 Shawano Avenue, Green Bay, WI 54313.
