Youth Find Their Niche Through Clubs at the Y

Posted on 2-06-2020

In service to our purpose to strengthen community impact through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility, the YMCA offers several clubs for local youth, age 8 to 13.

A few of the many advantages for youth participating in clubs are:

Developing interpersonal skills like critical thinking and problem-solving

Improving self-confidence and self-esteem

Developing and refining club-based skills, like soccer, crafts, technology, games

Keeping them occupied in a safe, supportive environment and away from potentially dangerous or negative situations

Tech Club

Children collaborate with peers while designing their own games and animations using web-based coding platforms such as Scratch. They also have the opportunity to build their own Makey Makey game controllers using ordinary conductive materials like fruit, Play-Doh or coins. Logic and problem-solving board games that will challenge and educate those that play are also included.

Friday, February 14th from 9:00 to 11:00 am at West Side Y

Craft Club

Children get creative with new arts and crafts every Wednesday after school. Each month we’ll focus on a new medium – yarn, metal, wood and clay.

Wednesdays from 4:00 to 5:30 pm at West Side Y

Fine Arts Club

Children can flex their imagination muscles, gain self- confidence and improve their quick thinking skills with improvisation, acting, musical theater and film acting. They’ll learn theater games, how to perform on stage and in front of a camera and watch and sing various Broadway musical numbers. Each month is a new topic!

Thursdays from 4:00 – 5:30 pm at West Side Y

And, don’t miss the Family Nights at Broadview!

YMCA Greater Green Bay

To put Christian Principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all.

The YMCA is a cause driven non-profit organization dedicated to strengthening our communities in spirit, mind and body. Much more than just a fitness center, we focus on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility as well. At the Y we know we aren’t simply in the community, but a part of it, and when we strengthen others we strengthen ourselves. Welcome to the Y. You belong here.
